About Us
Where It All Began
John's Motor Sports was established in 1977 by John and Marcia McIntosh.
John and Marcia's desire was to serve the Hayward Lakes Area in the marine industry for both sales and service of Mercury Marine Products.
Their dedication to the area and community is very apparent and well recognized, both by the customers and other businesses.
Where We Are Now
In July of 2012 Darrell and Penny Van Eck acquired John's Motor Sports.
We are dedicated to continue with the tradition of great service and fair pricing that John and Marcia established.nTroy Van Eck, ( son of Darrell and Penny ) started working with John and Marcia in early spring of 2012. He is fully certified in Mercury outboard motor repair as well as Mercruiser Repair.
Ryan Tasche joined John's Motor Sports in 2017 and has brought his prior knowledge of jet skis to the playing field as well as Mercury repair,
Cole Koski joined us in 2021 and he has helped to keep our repairs timely.
Darrell is fully certified in both Mercury outboards and Mercruiser as well.
Penny runs the show room and does scheduling.
Helena (Daughter of Penny and Darrell) Is now helping Penny run the showroom as well as scheduling.

Our Specialties include:
- At John's Motor Sports, we bring over 40 years of experience to every job, offering expert boat repair, storage, and a wide selection of marine parts and accessories. Whether you're in need of outboard or Mercruiser motor service, winterization, or looking to upgrade with marine batteries, we've got you covered. We proudly sell and service Argo XTVs and ATVs, as well as a variety of used boats for those ready to hit the water. Our shop also offers pick-up and delivery services for added convenience, ensuring your equipment is always in top shape. From marine outboard motors to hard-to-find parts, John's Motor Sports is your trusted partner for all things marine and motorsports.
Our Services include:
- Johns Motor Sports does all we can to get you and your boat back on the water quickly. In most cases we can have your boat / motor repaired in 24 hrs. Our large supply of parts allows us to do quick turn around times on repairs. The parts department is constantly adding and updating the stock of parts for newer models of motors as well as older models. Much has been invested in the proper tools needed to repair your Mercury product safely and quickly. Such as diagnostic computers, specialty tools, test tanks, lifting equipment, parts and warranty computers.
- We may be small in stature, but we are big in customer service.
- John's Motor Sports is now offering pick-up and delivery services. If you do not have a way to transport your boat, or just don't care to tow your own boat for service repair, storage, or repowering of your boat we are now offering to do that for you. We are able to accommodate pontoons or run about style boats. There is a charge for the use of our pontoon trailers if we are picking up and delivering your boat at $75.00.
